Residents of Bhopal should prepare for scheduled power outages on Sunday, May 31, 2026, as the electricity department has announced maintenance and infrastructure-related shutdowns across several parts of the city. The temporary disruption in power supply will affect multiple residential colonies, commercial pockets and key localities due to conductor replacement work, pole erection activities, metro construction and line maintenance projects.

The planned shutdowns will take place at different times throughout the day, with some areas facing interruptions for up to eight hours. Residents are advised to complete essential tasks, charge electronic devices and make necessary arrangements in advance.

Why Is There A Power Cut In Bhopal On May 31?

According to the power department, the outages have been scheduled to facilitate the replacement of damaged and ageing conductors under the SSTD scheme, pole erection works, metro construction activities and routine line maintenance. These infrastructure upgrades are aimed at improving the reliability and safety of the city's power network.

Areas Facing Power Cut From 8 AM To 4 PM

The longest outage of the day will affect several localities between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM due to conductor replacement work.

Power supply will remain suspended in the following areas due to pole erection work:

  • Shanti Nagar
  • Durga Mandir area
  • F-118, F-116 and F-120 lines
  • Ankur Complex

Areas Facing Power Cut From 10 AM To 2 PM

Several localities will witness a four-hour outage due to metro construction and pole erection works.

Advisory For Residents

With temperatures expected to remain high during the day, residents are advised to keep backup power arrangements ready, charge mobile phones and laptops beforehand, and store sufficient drinking water if dependent on electric pumps. Businesses operating in the affected areas may also plan their activities around the announced shutdown schedule to avoid inconvenience.

The power department is expected to restore electricity immediately after the completion of the scheduled maintenance and infrastructure works.
