Good news for Mumbaikars! The Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) has begun issuing the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) on 25 April 2022, a pan-India mobility card, which can be used by passengers for buses, metros, railways, and all forms of public transport. And to make the service fully digital, National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) is devised in a way to support the tap-in, tap-out facility that is currently serving in all BEST buses.

Besides its application in the transportation sector, the localities who own a National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) can also make purchases at grocery stores and retail showrooms using the same card.

BEST's common mobility card can be purchased at Rs 100. Once its activation, the National Common Mobility Card, subsidised by RuPay, can be utilised as a debit card across India to make other purchases. The mobility card can be either recharged by a bus conductor in one of the BEST buses or a passenger can opt for an online medium to recharge.

By initiating its own NCMC, BEST has become the first bus service in the country to use the common mobility card service. The NCMC service was launched on Monday by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray, along with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, and BEST general manager Lokesh Chandra, at the Colaba depot.

This card is in use on the Airport Express line of Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad Metro.
