Residents in several parts of Bengaluru will face a planned eight-hour power outage on Wednesday, June 18, as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) carries out important infrastructure upgrades. The power cut, scheduled between 10 am and 6 pm, is due to the installation of underground cables and transformer improvements.

BESCOM has urged people to plan their day in advance to avoid disruptions, especially those working from home or managing household tasks during this time.

The following areas will be impacted by the outage:
- Hindu Crematorium Area
- Kannurahalli Road
- Somasundar Layout
- Nisarga Layout
- Annapoorneshwari Nagar
- Milan Kalyana Mantapa
- Kannurahalli
- Gangalu Village
Residents in these localities are advised to charge devices, store water, and keep backup options ready if needed.
Rain and Storm Alerts Across Karnataka
While Bengaluru prepares for a power cut, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather warnings for Karnataka due to a strong southwest monsoon. On Sunday, a red alert was declared for some coastal areas, indicating the possibility of heavy rainfall and strong winds.
Meanwhile, orange and yellow alerts have been issued for other regions, including Bengaluru Urban, as more showers and gusty winds are expected over the next few days.
According to the IMD, wind speeds may go up to 50 kmph, especially in regions under red and orange alerts. People living in these areas are urged to:

Stay indoors during heavy rainfall
