The Bangalore Electricity Distribution Company Limited (BESCOM) has announced scheduled power maintenance work across several parts of Bengaluru in mid-December. As part of this work, repair and upgrade projects will be carried out at power plants, substations, and distribution lines to improve the long-term electricity supply. Due to this, residents
in many areas should be prepared for temporary power disruptions.
Power Outage in Bengaluru
On December 16, BESCOM will conduct maintenance work on a rotational basis between 10 am and 6 pm. During this period, electricity supply may be irregular or unavailable in several localities. Areas such as Bengaluru Road, Kanampalli, Prabhakar Layout, Gundappa Layout, Anjani Layout, Ashraya Layout, Kempama Layout, Venkatagirikote, Filter Bed Circle, Royal Circle, Bagepalli Circle, Tank Plant Road, Teachers Colony, and Thimmachandra are likely to be affected.
BESCOM's Work and List of Affected Areas
Moreover, BESCOM has planned transformer capacity enhancement work at the Byadarahalli power distribution centre. This work will be carried out from December 14 to December 19, between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., and may result in power outages lasting up to 12 hours in some areas. Areas that may face long power cuts include Madeshwaranagar, Prasanna Layout, Hosahalli, Kempegowda Nagar, Gollarahatti, Nadakerappa Industrial Area, Herohalli, Tunganagar, Vishweshwara Nagar, Anjana Nagar, Annapoorneshwari Nagar, Sunkadakatte, Hegganahalli, Kodigehalli, Chikkagollarhatti, Seegehalli, Padmavati Industrial Area, Shantilal Layout, Kannahalli, D Group Layout, and nearby localities.
Meanwhile, BESCOM is also continuing work from December 10 to December 20 to shift 11KV power lines, transformers, and electric poles that are obstructing footpath development along Bengaluru Double Road. The power supply from the F-10 Prabhakar Layout and F-22 KEB Quarters feeders will remain affected during this period, mainly between 10 am and 6 pm.
