BESCOM Announces 7-Hour Power Outage In Bengaluru On June 29; Affected Areas

On June 29, Bengaluru will face a substantial power outage, lasting up to seven hours. The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has announced that the power supply will be disrupted in various parts of the city. These outages are scheduled between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, affecting several areas significantly.

BESCOM is conducting quarterly maintenance work, which necessitates these power interruptions. Areas under the 66/11 kilovolts (kV) A station are particularly expected to experience disruptions. The company often schedules such outages during weekends when electricity demand is lower due to residents being off work.

Maintenance and Upgrades

Scheduled power cuts are not uncommon in Bengaluru, with recent ones occurring on June 24. BESCOM and Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL) implement these outages for various projects and maintenance activities. These include tree trimming, undergrounding cables, and upgrading high-tension lines.

The maintenance tasks also involve servicing Ring Main Units (RMUs), repairing HT connections, system upgrades, and other essential repairs. Such activities are crucial for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of the city's power infrastructure.

Affected Areas

According to BESCOM's official update, several areas might face electricity disruptions. These include Seshadri Road, Kurubara Sangha Circle, 1st Main Road, Gandhi Nagar 1st Cross, parts of 2nd Cross, Crescent Road, Seshadripuram, Vinayaka Circle, Kempegowda Road, Tank Bund Road, Subedar Chatram Road, Lakshmanpuri Slum Area, Cubbonpet, Anand Rao Circle, Race Course Road, Chalukya Circle, High Grounds, Malleswaram, and parts of Seshadripuram.

Bengaluru tends to experience more frequent power cuts over weekends. This pattern aligns with BESCOM's strategy to minimize inconvenience by scheduling outages when the grid load is lighter due to reduced residential demand.

Power providers like BESCOM play a vital role in maintaining and upgrading the city's electrical systems. Their efforts ensure that ongoing projects like the Jalasiri 24x7 water supply project proceed smoothly without compromising service quality.

Residents should prepare for potential disruptions by planning their activities accordingly on June 29. Staying informed about scheduled outages can help mitigate inconvenience during these necessary maintenance periods.
