Residents in Bengaluru may experience temporary power interruptions this weekend as maintenance work is scheduled across several parts of the city. The outages are being carried out by the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) as part of routine infrastructure upgrades.
These planned shutdowns are usually conducted to service transformers, repair feeder lines, replace ageing cables, and strengthen electricity networks, especially ahead of the summer season when power demand tends to rise significantly.
Areas That May Experience Power Cuts
According to maintenance schedules, several residential and commercial areas across the city could see temporary electricity disruptions. Some of the localities expected to be affected include:
- Whitefield
- KR Puram
- Marathahalli
- Mahadevapura
- Yelahanka
- Hebbal
- BTM Layout
- JP Nagar
- Jayanagar
- Parts of Electronic City
Residents living in nearby layouts connected to the same substations may also experience brief outages during the maintenance period.
Expected Power Cut Timings
Most maintenance-related shutdowns in Bengaluru are usually scheduled during daytime hours to reduce inconvenience. In many cases, electricity supply may remain unavailable during the following windows:
- 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
However, the exact timing can vary depending on the nature of the repair work and the feeder lines involved. In some cases, power may be restored earlier if the maintenance work is completed ahead of schedule.
