The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a latest weather warning for Karnataka, including Bengaluru. The state is expected to receive heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds over the next few days. Moreover, wind speeds may reach up to 60 kmph in some places.

Bengaluru Weather Alert
According to the forecast, Bengaluru will continue to experience cloudy weather with moderate to heavy rainfall. Thunderstorms and lightning are also likely, especially during evening and night hours. The weather department has advised people to remain cautious while travelling, as strong winds may uproot trees and affect traffic movement. In Bengaluru, recent rains have already caused traffic jams, fallen trees, and disruptions in daily life. Authorities have asked residents to avoid staying near weak structures, electric poles, and large trees during storms. People are also advised to check weather updates before stepping out.
Several districts in Karnataka, including coastal, north interior, and south interior regions, are under alert due to intense pre-monsoon activity. IMD said that heavy rain and gusty winds may continue till the end of May. Some areas may also witness hailstorms and waterlogging.
Reason behind the Weather Change
The weather changes are being caused by active systems over the Bay of Bengal and nearby regions. Due to this, many parts of southern India are receiving widespread rainfall. The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms with wind speeds between 40 and 60 kmph in several districts of Karnataka.
The rainfall is expected to bring some relief from the summer heat, but citizens are being urged to stay alert to possible thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds across the state.
