Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently shared an important update about India's upcoming bullet train network. The government is planning seven new high-speed rail corridors, which will connect major cities and significantly reduce travel time. These trains are expected to run at speeds of over 250 km per hour, making long-distance
travel much faster, smoother, and more comfortable.
Proposed Routes for Bullet Train
Some of the proposed routes include Delhi to Varanasi in about 3 hours and 30 minutes and Delhi to Lucknow in just 2 hours. Travel between Varanasi and Patna could take only 1 hour. In the west, the journey from Mumbai to Pune will be completed in just 48 minutes. Other key routes include Pune to Hyderabad in 2 hours and Hyderabad to Bengaluru in around 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Bengaluru to Chennai Bullet Train
However, one of the most exciting proposals is the high-speed rail line between Bengaluru and Chennai. This route could reduce travel time to just 73 minutes, a significant improvement compared to current road or train journeys that take several hours, and sometimes the entire day. This corridor is especially important because both cities have major IT and industrial areas, which often see working professionals. Faster travel between them could boost business, create more job opportunities, and improve daily commuting for professionals.
However, the planned bullet train network will cover more than 4,000 km across India. This initiative aims to modernize the country's transport system, reduce travel time, and support economic growth by connecting important cities more efficiently.
