Bengaluru Rain Alert in the Coming Days

According to the latest forecast, Bengaluru is expected to experience mostly cloudy skies with periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms. Strong winds of around 30-40 kmph may also occur in some areas. Residents have been advised to remain careful while travelling, as heavy rain could lead to waterlogging, traffic jams, and poor visibility, especially in low-lying locations.

Yellow Alert in Karnataka

The IMD has placed several regions of Karnataka under Yellow Alert, indicating people should stay aware and be prepared for adverse weather conditions. Areas covered by the alert include Coastal Karnataka, Malenadu, South Interior Karnataka, and North Interior Karnataka, where heavy rainfall is expected between June 3 and June 8. Rainfall in these regions could range from 64.5 mm to 115.4 mm at isolated places.

Orange Alert in Karnataka

Moreover, an Orange Alert has been issued for certain days and regions where rainfall intensity is expected to increase further. Coastal Karnataka is likely to receive heavy to very heavy rain on June 3, June 8, and June 9, while Malenadu and South Interior Karnataka may experience similar conditions on June 8 and June 9. Rainfall could exceed 115 mm in some places.

Several districts in northern Karnataka, including Bidar, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Vijayapura, Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, and Haveri, are also under alert for thunderstorms and rainfall. Meanwhile, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and other districts are expected to receive frequent rain and thunderstorms over the next few days. The strengthening southwest monsoon is likely to keep weather conditions wet across Karnataka throughout the week.
