Daily commuters on Bengaluru's Yellow Line have a reason to celebrate. Starting June 3, travel on the corridor connecting southern Bengaluru and Electronics City is set to become smoother, with train frequency improving further during both peak and non-peak hours.

The move comes as more train sets are added to the corridor, reducing platform waiting time and improving passenger movement across one of the city's most closely watched metro stretches.
What Is Changing From June 3?
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited has announced the induction of two additional trains on the RV Road-Bommasandra corridor, increasing the total number of train sets operating on the Yellow Line to 10.
For regular passengers, the biggest change will be reduced waiting time.
New Metro Frequency
Peak Hours (Weekdays):
- Earlier: Every 9 minutes
- Now: Every 7 minutes
Peak hour timings:
- 8 AM to 12 PM
- 4 PM to 9 PM
Non-Peak Hours:
- Earlier: Every 14 minutes
- Now: Every 10 minutes
Weekends:
- Trains will operate at 10-minute frequency throughout the day
- No Change In First And Last Train Timings
While train intervals are being reduced, passengers should note that the first and last train schedules remain unchanged from both terminal stations - RV Road and Bommasandra.
Why This Matters For Bengaluru Commuters
The Yellow Line began operations with limited train availability, leading to long queues and extended waiting periods at stations. The corridor serves a major commuter belt and supports travel toward the city's technology and employment hubs.
With 10 trains now in operation, daily riders can expect:
- Faster boarding during rush hours
- Reduced crowd build-up at stations
- Better reliability for office commute planning
- Shorter average waiting times
- More Trains Are On The Way
The expansion is not stopping here. Additional train sets are expected to join operations in the coming weeks, with another rake already undergoing testing. Future rolling stock additions are also planned to further strengthen Yellow Line operations.
For thousands of Bengaluru commuters, June 3 marks another step toward a quicker and more predictable metro journey.
