Two green lights this week pushed Bengaluru’s Pink Line to the last mile. BMRCL secured Railway Board sanction for BEML trainsets on September 23. It also received independent safety certification for the elevated route. With the Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety inspection next, officials are eyeing a mid‑October opening window for Bannerghatta Road’s stretch.
That timeline reflects the line’s test cadence. The safety authority inspected rolling stock in Bengaluru during August 12–14. BMRCL had said the elevated section required rolling stock sanction, then CMRS inspection, before opening. With sanction now issued, scrutiny of the corridor itself is the remaining step.
Bengaluru Metro Pink Line: CMRS inspection and October window
CMRS checks confirm systems readiness and passenger safety across stations, track, power and signalling. Documentation submitted now includes the Railway Board’s sanction and the independent safety assessment. If the inspection lands in early October, authorization to open could arrive within days, leaving a short runway for inauguration planning.
Bengaluru Metro Pink Line: stations and interchanges
Phase‑one operations cover six elevated stations: Kalena Agrahara, Hulimavu, IIM Bangalore, JP Nagar 4th Phase, Jayadeva Hospital, and Tavarekere. Jayadeva links directly to the Yellow Line toward Electronics City. Later, interchanges arrive at MG Road with the Purple Line and at Nagawara with the Blue Line.
For Bannerghatta Road, the Pink Line converts a car‑choked artery into a reliable spine. Jayadeva’s five‑level hub, the network’s largest, becomes a pressure valve for south Bengaluru. Expect early crowds near Fortis Hospital, IIM Bangalore and Hulimavu, so plan exits and alternate gates before peak periods.
First‑week frequency will likely be conservative, then ramp quickly. The Yellow Line launched with sparse trains, improved to 13‑minute gaps, and now runs near seven minutes at peaks. Expect a similar ramp‑up here. To skip queues, use WhatsApp or the Namma Metro app for QR tickets and UPI payments.
