Bengaluru Metro News: 16 New Interchange Stations to Be Added Soon; Check the List

Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has exciting plans for the city's metro system. They've announced the addition of 16 interchange stations in the upcoming Phase 2 and Phase 3 projects of Namma Metro. This move aims to make it easier for commuters to switch between different metro lines, encouraging more people to rely on the metro for their daily travels.

Bengaluru Metro s Interchange Stations

Currently, Majestic is the only interchange metro station in Bengaluru, serving about 50,000 passengers daily who need to switch between the Purple and Green lines. With the addition of these 16 new interchange stations, passengers will have seamless access to any metro line, including Purple, Green, Yellow, Pink, and Blue lines.

The locations of these upcoming interchange metro stations have been strategically chosen to ensure maximum convenience for commuters. According to The Hindu report, the stations will be situated at:

Station Name
Jayadeva Junction
M.G Road
K.R Puram
Hosahalli
Mysuru Road
Peenya
R.V Road
J.P Nagar 4th Stage
Dairy Circle
Nagavara
Kempapura
Hebbal
Agara
Central Silk Board
Sumanahalli Cross

Among these, the interchange station at Jayadeva Junction is expected to be the largest in the city. It is scheduled to open by the end of this year and will play a crucial role in connecting the Yellow and Pink lines of Namma Metro. This station is part of the Yellow Line from R.V. Road to Bommasandra and the Pink Line from Kalena Agrahara to Nagawara.

Bengaluru Metro s Interchange Stations

The Jayadeva Junction interchange station features a unique double-decker flyover design, with separate levels for road traffic and Metro trains. This innovative setup will provide commuters coming from the Ragigudda side with direct access to Silk Board, eliminating the need for signal stops.

BMRCL officials anticipate that the Jayadeva interchange station will become one of the busiest metro interchange stations in the future. Once the Yellow and Pink Lines are operational, it is estimated that around 80,000 to 90,000 passengers will use this station regularly.

The addition of these interchange stations marks a significant step forward in improving Bengaluru's metro connectivity. With easier access to multiple metro lines, commuters can look forward to a more convenient and efficient travel experience across the city.
