Bengaluru is planning to improve metro connectivity at Silk Board Junction by building an elevated walkway between two metro lines, connecting the Yellow Line and the upcoming Blue Line, making it easier for passengers to travel between the two routes.

Bengaluru Metro Yellow & Blue Line
At present, the Yellow Line, which runs from RV Road to Bommasandra, is already operational and serves important residential and industrial areas in south Bengaluru. On the other hand, the Blue Line is still under construction and will run along the Outer Ring Road, eventually connecting to Kempegowda International Airport.
Silk Board as an Interchange Station
Unlike major metro stations like Majestic or MG Road, Silk Board is not designed as a direct interchange station; however, commuters currently cannot easily move between the two lines within the station itself. Instead, they would have to come out and use busy roads to switch lines. The new elevated walkway aims to solve this problem by providing a smooth and safe connection above the road.
Why is the Project Important?
The project is especially important because Silk Board Junction is one of the most crowded and traffic-heavy areas in the city. By creating a separate elevated path for pedestrians, the walkway will reduce pressure on roads and make travel more convenient. Construction of the walkway is expected to take around nine months after the contract is awarded. The tender process is currently ongoing, and land acquisition is still in progress before work can begin.
