The much-awaited Pink Line of the Namma Metro is about to be completed and is expected to begin important safety trials soon, aiming for a launch by mid-2026. Officials have said that the Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) trials may start before the end of this month, although a
few formal steps are still pending. Once the inspection begins, it is likely to take at least two weeks to complete.
Why are the RDSO Trials Conducted?
These RDSO trials are a necessary step for all metro projects in India. They are conducted to check the safety, performance, and overall readiness of the trains and infrastructure. Only after successfully passing these tests can the metro line be opened for public use.
Bengaluru Metro Pink Line Corridor
The Pink Line corridor is around 21 kilometres long and includes a major underground section of about 13 kilometres, running between Dairy Circle and Nagawara. This underground stretch is one of the key parts of the project and is expected to improve connectivity across important areas of the city. The elevated section of the line, which runs between Kalena Agrahara and Tavarekere, is planned to be opened first. Authorities are targeting mid-2026 for the start of operations on this portion. However, the entire Pink Line, including both underground and elevated sections, is expected to be fully completed by December 2026.
The project is progressing steadily, and the upcoming trials mark an important milestone before the metro line becomes operational for the public.
