Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has announced that a new Vande Bharat train will soon run between Bengaluru, Mangaluru, and Madgaon. This new service will improve rail connectivity across the scenic Western Ghats and the Konkan coast. The announcement was made during his recent visit to Bengaluru, where he also

inaugurated a high-speed train manufacturing facility at BEML. While speaking about India's push for self-reliant high-speed trains, the minister said that the prototype of the bullet train will be ready next year, and full production is expected to begin by late 2027.
Bengaluru-Madgaon Vande Bharat Express
The new Vande Bharat route from Bengaluru to Mangaluru, which will later extend to Madgaon, is highly anticipated. This route passes through the Western Ghats, an area known for its steep terrain, which earlier made railway operations difficult. However, the minister confirmed that these technical challenges have now been solved. According to officials, the train will likely be operated by the South Western Railway zone. The service between Bengaluru and Mangaluru is expected to begin soon, while the extension to Madgaon will create a smooth connection between three major travel destinations.
How will the Service Benefit Passengers?
This route is especially important for tourism. Bengaluru is known as India's technology hub, Mangaluru is famous for its beautiful beaches and temples, and Goa is one of the country's most popular tourist destinations. Currently, train travel between these places takes a long time, but the new Vande Bharat service is expected to reduce travel time significantly.
The minister also mentioned that a new superfast train and a Vande Bharat sleeper train between Bengaluru and Mumbai will be introduced soon, further improving connectivity and travel convenience.
