South Western Railway launches bi-weekly & weekly Holi Special Trains from Bengaluru

Indian Railways, through the South Western Railway, has announced extra train services ahead of the Holi festival to help people travel more easily between Bengaluru, Kalaburagi, Bidar, and Kolkata during the busy holiday period. These special trains are meant to give passengers more options so they can reach their homes

or festival destinations without too much trouble, as many people travel by train at this time of year.

Bi-Weekly Special Trains

One of the main special services is a bi-weekly express train between SMVT Bengaluru-Bidar Bi-weekly Express Special. This train runs from Sir M. Visvesvaraya Terminal in Bengaluru to Bidar and stops at several stations along the way. It operates twice a week, on Fridays and Sundays, and will continue operating until late March with the same scheduled times and stops each trip.

Special Train between Bengaluru & Kalaburagi

There is also a weekly special train service between Bengaluru Cantonment and Kalaburagi. This train runs once a week and connects the state capital region with Kalaburagi, allowing travellers from northern Karnataka and nearby areas to reach home or visit for Holi.

Bengaluru & Kolkata Special Train

For people travelling long distances towards the east, another special train has been arranged between Yelahanka in Bengaluru and Santragachi in Kolkata. This service gives direct connectivity between southern India and eastern India during the festival season, helping passengers travelling for family gatherings or celebrations.

All these special trains are scheduled to follow their usual timetables and halts, and they will continue to operate until late March 2026 to cope with the increased travel demand around Holi. Passengers planning their trips are advised to check seat availability and book tickets early, as trains often get booked during holiday periods.
