SWR Launches Special Bengaluru-Kalaburagi Express For Deepavali Festivities

The South Western Railway is introducing special trains between Bengaluru and Kalaburagi for Deepavali 2024. With convenient schedules and diverse coach options, this initiative aims to enhance travel comfort and accessibility during the festive season.

To cater to the increased demand for travel during the Deepavali festival, the South Western Railway (SWR) has announced the introduction of special train services connecting Bengaluru and Kalaburagi. These trains are scheduled to facilitate passengers, ensuring they can travel comfortably during this festive season. The initiative highlights the SWR's commitment to accommodating the surge in travelers looking to celebrate Deepavali with friends and family.

The special service, named Bengaluru-Kalaburagi Express Special, is set to operate from Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru. It will commence its journey at 9.15 pm on two specific dates, October 30 and November 2, 2024. The train is designed to cover the distance overnight, reaching Kalaburagi at 7.40 am the following day. This timing is convenient for passengers, allowing them to make the most out of their festive preparations without losing a day to travel.

Passengers will have the option to return on the Kalaburagi-SMVT Bengaluru Express Special. This return journey is scheduled for the mornings of October 31 and November 3, departing Kalaburagi at 9.35 am. The train is set to arrive back at SMVT Bengaluru by 8 pm the same day. This scheduling offers a seamless travel experience for passengers, enabling a swift return to Bengaluru after their Deepavali celebrations.

The route for these special trains will take passengers through a scenic and convenient path, including stops at Yelahanka, Dharmavaram, Anantapur, Guntakal, Adoni, Manthralayam Road, Raichur, Krishna, Yadgir, and Shahabad stations. This extensive route ensures that various passengers can access the train from different locations, making it a preferred option for many during the festival season.

To accommodate a large number of passengers, each train will comprise 19 coaches. This includes 12 General Second Class coaches for budget-friendly travel, 3 Sleeper Class coaches for those preferring overnight comfort, 2 AC Three-tier coaches for a more luxurious journey, and a combination of a Luggage/Brake Van cum generator car alongside a second class luggage and brake van that includes facilities for disabled passengers. This configuration is meticulously planned to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of travelers during the Deepavali festival.

As Deepavali draws people together, the SWR's initiative of running these special trains between Bengaluru and Kalaburagi is a welcome move. It not only aids in managing the festival rush but also underscores the importance of ensuring accessibility and comfort for passengers during one of the most significant festivals in India. This effort by the SWR is sure to be appreciated by many, as it facilitates joyous reunions and festive celebrations.
