Karnataka is currently facing a strong rise in temperatures, with many areas experiencing unusually high heat for April, according to a report. Northern parts of the state, especially Kalaburagi, are the worst affected. Some places have been recorded between 44°C and 45°C. Even Bengaluru, which is usually cooler, is now
feeling the impact of the rising heat.
Bengaluru Heat Alert
In Bengaluru, the temperature reached 35.8°C on Wednesday. This is slightly lower than Tuesday's 36.6°C, which was the hottest day of 2026 so far. However, this small drop has not brought much relief. Weather experts say temperatures in the city may rise further and could reach around 38°C in the coming days. For now, the forecast suggests maximum temperatures will stay between 36°C and 37°C, with mostly dry weather conditions. There is a slight chance of thundershowers, but these are expected to be brief and limited to certain areas, which are unlikely to provide much relief from the heat.
Extreme Weather Conditions
The situation is much worse in the Kalaburagi district. Awrad B recorded a high of 45°C, while Chincholi and Afzalpur saw temperatures above 44°C. Kalaburagi city itself recorded 42.1°C, and temperatures may rise even higher soon. Since temperatures are 3-4°C above normal, officials have advised people to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours, from 11:30 am to 5 pm, and drink plenty of water.
The weather department has issued heatwave alerts in several regions. Many parts of Karnataka have already broken previous April temperature records, showing how intense this summer is becoming.
