Namma Metro has received the fourth train for its upcoming Pink Line, which the metro authority plans to partially open in May. The new six-coach train arrived at the Kothanur depot on Bannerghatta Road from the manufacturing unit of Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) located at New Thippasandra on March

13, according to a senior official from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited.
Technical Checks
After reaching the depot, the train was shifted to the Inspection Bay Line (IBL), where it will undergo a series of technical checks and safety tests before it can be used for operations. These tests are necessary to ensure that the train meets all required safety and performance standards.
Delivery of Pink Line Trains
BEML had earlier rolled out the prototype train for the Pink Line on December 11, 2025. After that, two more trains were delivered in February. With the arrival of the fourth train, the metro authority is gradually preparing its fleet for the new corridor. At present, BMRCL is also working to obtain all required statutory approvals for the prototype train before regular services begin.
The metro authority plans to start operations on the 7.5-kilometre elevated stretch between Kalena Agrahara and Taverekere by May. This section is part of the larger Pink Line project and is expected to improve connectivity in the southern parts of Bengaluru.
Trains on Purple & Green Lines
Meanwhile, Titagarh Rail Systems Limited (TRSL), a Kolkata-based manufacturer, has also sent another DTG (Driverless Train Grade) train for use on the Purple and Green lines of Namma Metro. Three coaches of the train were dispatched on March 13, while the remaining three coaches were sent the following night.
The train is expected to reach the Peenya depot later this month. Once it arrives, these new trains, along with a prototype train manufactured in China that was delivered in January 2025, will be added to the Purple and Green lines by May or June. This step is aimed at reducing overcrowding during peak travel hours. At present, the Purple and Green lines together operate 57 trains.
