Good News: The iconic Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru, known for its grand architecture and status as the centre of Karnataka's government, now has another reason to shine. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recently inaugurated a new permanent illumination system that lights up the majestic building in the colours of the Indian flag. This beautiful display, accompanied by the sounds of traditional drums and music, has already started turning heads and is set to become a regular feature on weekends and public holidays.

A New Light Show for the Public
From now on, residents and tourists in Bengaluru can enjoy the illuminated Vidhana Soudha every weekend and on public holidays from 6.30 pm to 10 pm. This is more than just a lighting project. It is a celebration of Karnataka's culture, heritage, and democracy. The tricolour lighting not only highlights the beauty of the structure but also reminds everyone of the values it stands for.
During the inauguration, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah spoke about the deeper meaning of the Vidhana Soudha. He said, "People have chosen and sent us to Vidhana Soudha to give justice to even the most marginalised people of the state. We should strive hard to achieve the idea behind constructing this building."

Who Attended the Grand Event
The launch event was attended by several top leaders and officials. Ministers K J George and H K Patil, political secretaries to the Chief Minister, K Govindaraju and Naseer Ahmed, Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh, and Additional Chief Secretary L K Atheeq were present. Their presence showed the strong support the project received from the government.
Plans to Expand Illumination Across Bengaluru
The illumination of Vidhana Soudha is just the beginning. Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar revealed that the government plans to light up many more parts of the city. These include Metro pillars and important heritage buildings.

"Forty places have been identified for the purpose. A detailed project report (DPR) has also been prepared. Soon, tenders will be invited in this regard," Shivakumar said. These plans aim to enhance the city's night-time look and celebrate both its history and progress.
Vidhana Soudha: A Symbol of Power and Pride
Vidhana Soudha is not just a building. It is a symbol of Karnataka's governance and architectural brilliance. Built in 1956, this grand structure was designed in a style called Neo-Dravidian architecture, combining elements from traditional Indian design and modern ideas. It houses the Karnataka State Legislature and the Secretariat. The building is 150 feet tall and spreads over 60 acres. It has four floors above the ground and one underground floor.
The famous words engraved on its front, "Government's Work is God's Work", reflect the values of service and responsibility that the building stands for.

A Blend of Culture, Beauty, and Progress
This lighting project is part of a larger goal to make Bengaluru more beautiful and inviting. The city is known for its IT industry and modern lifestyle, but it also has a rich cultural and historical side. By lighting up important buildings and landmarks, the government is trying to balance tradition with modern development.
These changes are expected to attract more tourists, encourage local pride, and make public spaces more active and enjoyable. The lights will also improve safety in those areas, especially during the evenings.
The new lighting of Vidhana Soudha is a proud moment for Bengaluru. It adds to the charm of the city's skyline and gives people a reason to come out and celebrate their heritage. With more places soon to be lit up, Bengaluru is slowly becoming a city that glows with pride and purpose. This is not just about lights; it's about showcasing the soul of the city to the world.
