The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) has announced a planned power outage for several areas on Friday, January 10, 2025, due to emergency maintenance work by the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL). The power cut is scheduled to last for 5.5 hours, from 10 AM to 3:30 PM. Residents and businesses are advised to prepare in advance and plan their activities accordingly.

Areas Affected by the Power Outage
The planned outage will impact several locations across Bangalore, including residential and industrial areas. Key affected areas include:
- - Ravindra Nagar, Prashanath Nagar, Santosh Nagar, and Air Force Jalahalli West
- - Vaishnavi Nakashtra Apartments and KSRTC Bus Stand
- - Gati Road, Triveni, HHV, DMG, and Krishna Fabrications
Industrial hubs and businesses are also set to face disruptions, with locations such as Gemini Industries, Ravi-Kirloskar Hospital, John Crane, Pris IL, MSIL, Wipro Wellcast Factory, ITC, Volvo, Avery Dennison, Hitachi Industries, and Geetha Timber included in the outage list. Both residents and businesses in these areas are urged to make necessary arrangements to minimize inconvenience during the maintenance period.
Protests Over Electricity Supply in Gudibande Taluk
In a separate development, farmers from Gudibande Taluk staged a protest outside the BESCOM office. Alongside Green Army activists, they submitted a petition highlighting the inadequate electricity supply for their agricultural pump sets, which is causing significant challenges in maintaining their crops.
The farmers rely heavily on borewells due to the lack of permanent irrigation projects. The limited electricity supply has led to crop damage, as the pumps are essential for irrigation. The protest aimed to draw BESCOM's attention to their struggles and urge immediate action to address the power shortage.
Residents and businesses in the affected areas should monitor updates from BESCOM regarding any changes to the scheduled maintenance. The organization is working to ensure smooth operations post-maintenance while addressing community concerns like those raised by Gudibande farmers.
This planned outage and ongoing protests highlight the importance of reliable electricity in supporting both urban and rural livelihoods. By staying prepared, residents and businesses can better navigate these temporary disruptions.
