The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has taken a big step to improve the safety of passengers. From May 6, 2025, BMRCL started using a new AI-powered CCTV system at six metro stations between Byappanahalli and MG Road. This smart system helps keep a close watch not only inside the stations but also around the nearby areas.
New Technology to Watch More Than Just the Station
This new system uses artificial intelligence (AI) to monitor the surroundings in a smarter way. It keeps a watch on the full station area, helping the metro staff stay alert and aware of what's happening around the stations. With this system, any suspicious movement or possible threat can be quickly found and checked.
Cameras That Can Read Number Plates
One of the most important features of this new technology is something called Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). This system reads and checks the number plates of vehicles moving near the metro stations. When ANPR is used with AI video tools, it helps in finding anything unusual or risky happening near the station. It gives real-time updates and makes the safety checks even stronger.
