Banashankari to Get Bengaluru’s First 280-Meter Circular Skywalk for Safer Pedestrian Travel

A big step is coming to improve Bengaluru's roads and footpaths. A new circular skywalk will soon be built at Banashankari Junction to make it easier and safer for people to walk between the metro station and the nearby TTMC. After many delays, this long-awaited project is finally moving forward and will bring both comfort and beauty to the area.

Bengaluru s First Circular Skywalk

A solution to a long-standing problem

Since the opening of the Banashankari Metro Station in 2017, commuters have struggled to walk between the metro station and the Banashankari Traffic and Transit Management Centre (TTMC), which is only 200 meters away. With no direct connection, people have had to cross busy roads, which is both dangerous and tiring. The new circular skywalk will finally solve this problem.

The skywalk will act as a safe and quick passage for thousands of daily commuters, making travel between the two points much easier. This will be a major relief in one of Bengaluru's most crowded areas.

What the skywalk will offer

The circular skywalk will be 280 meters long and 6 meters wide. It will surround the Banashankari Junction and have ramps that connect to every corner. This means people can access the skywalk from all directions.

Construction is expected to begin by the end of this year and will take about 15 months to finish. The project cost is estimated to be between Rs 40 to 45 crore.

But it's not just about convenience. The skywalk will also focus on making the city look better. It will include features like landscaping, commercial outlets, and resting pods. It will be more than just a walking path-it will be a space for people to pause and enjoy.

Delays and new responsibilities

The project was delayed due to confusion over who would build it. At first, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was supposed to handle the construction. However, the responsibility has now been given to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

BL Yashvanth Chavan, Chief Public Relations Officer of BMRCL, confirmed this update and said that plans are now moving ahead. BMRCL has invited companies to submit bids for the construction work.

The upcoming skywalk is a major step in making Bengaluru more pedestrian-friendly. It is a smart mix of safety, design, and ease of travel. With the Banashankari skywalk, the city is showing that it cares about making travel smoother and public spaces more beautiful for everyone.
