After a four-month break, boat services to the stunning Papikondalu have restarted, inviting tourists back to this river paradise. The journey begins at the Gandi Pochamma temple boating point in Gonduru village, Alluri Sitarama Raju district, just 35 kilometers from Rajamahendravaram. The first trip set off with much excitement, marking a fresh start to explore the Godavari River's beauty and boosting tourism in the area.

The boat ride to Papikondalu offers an eight-hour experience along the River Godavari. Tourists can start their day in Rajamahendravaram at 7:30 am, arriving at the boating point by 9:30 am. The Tourism Department's divisional manager, Ch Pavan Kumar, shared that special preparations were made for safety and comfort, including practice drills held the day before the relaunch. These efforts ensure a safe and pleasant experience for everyone.
Accessible and Safe Journeys
The boats resumed service after the monsoon and cyclone season, with authorities taking a careful approach to reopen tourism in this area. The Tourism, Irrigation, and Kakinada port authorities have approved 15 boats to operate for the Papikondalu trips, reflecting a well-coordinated effort to revive local tourism. Tickets are priced at Rs 1,250 for adults and Rs 1,000 for children between 3-10 years old, and bookings are available on the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) website. These affordable options make the adventure accessible for families and individuals eager to enjoy the natural beauty.
In addition, boat rides have also resumed at Pochavaram point in the Chintur division of ASR district, giving tourists even more opportunities to explore the scenic Godavari region. These developments showcase a broad effort to attract more visitors, boosting the local economy.
Expanding Tourism: Pilgrim Tours in Rajahmundry
Alongside the boat tours, Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh has launched a one-day pilgrim tour in Rajahmundry, enhancing the region's tourism appeal. This tour, offered every Saturday starting at 6 am, takes visitors on a spiritual journey through Korukonda, Annavaram, Draksharamam, Samalkota, Pithapuram, and Vadapalli temples, ending with the Akhanda Harati at Pushkara Ghat in Rajamahendravaram at 6:30 pm. This mix of natural and spiritual experiences promises a memorable and meaningful trip for tourists.
