Akasa Air Becomes Only Carrier with Daily Flights to Gorakhpur from Delhi and Bengaluru

Akasa Air has unveiled plans to include Gorakhpur as its 23rd destination, offering direct flights from Delhi and Bengaluru starting May 29. This move marks a significant milestone for the airline, positioning it as the sole carrier to offer daily flights connecting Bengaluru and Gorakhpur.

Gorakhpur, renowned for its handloom and small-scale industries, stands as a prominent industrial center in Uttar Pradesh. With a concerted effort to bolster regional growth and infrastructure development, the city is witnessing a surge in traveler demand.

In a press statement, the airline emphasized the strategic importance of this launch, particularly in bolstering economic activity in Uttar Pradesh. Gorakhpur will be the fifth destination in the state to be serviced by Akasa Air, following Lucknow, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Prayagraj. Flight bookings are now available on the airline's website, app, and through travel agents.

Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air, expressed optimism about the expansion, stating, "We are pleased to introduce Gorakhpur as the 23rd destination in our network. These flights will enhance point-to-point connectivity with two metro cities, increasing mobility and accessibility within Gorakhpur while promoting trade and commerce."

Additionally, Akasa Air has implemented enhancements to its pet-travel service, 'Pets on Akasa.' The permissible weight for pet carriage in passenger cabins has been increased from 7 kgs to 10 kgs, inclusive of the weight of the container. Moreover, the airline has revised its travel certificate policy, extending the validity of pet travel certificates to 15 days, offering added convenience to customers.

Since its inception in August 2022, Akasa Air has served over 8 million passengers, catering to 24 cities across India and international destinations including Doha (Qatar) and Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).

This expansion not only underscores Akasa Air's commitment to enhancing connectivity but also reflects its dedication to providing passengers with convenient, affordable, and reliable travel options.
