The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) has opened passenger services at the Thaltej Village metro station, marking a major milestone in the expansion of the Metro Rail Corridor Phase 1. This new addition, connecting Thaltej and Vastral villages, strengthens Ahmedabad's public transport network and offers improved convenience for daily commuters.
The metro extension from Vastral Village to Thaltej Village spans the East and West corridors, adding a total of 18 operational stations to the route. This expansion ensures easier access across various parts of the city, enhancing Ahmedabad's urban mobility and supporting its growing population.
New Metro Timings
With the opening of the Thaltej Village metro station, services now begin at 6:20 am, with the last train departing at 10:05 pm from Thaltej Village. Similarly, metro services from Vastral Village start at 6:20 am, with the final train leaving at 10:00 pm. The total travel time is approximately 43 minutes from Thaltej Village to Vastral Village and about 45 minutes for the return trip.
Efficient Scheduling
The metro operates at 9-minute intervals during peak hours, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on weekdays. During off-peak hours, the frequency adjusts to every 10 minutes. On weekends, the service is available every 12 minutes, providing flexibility to meet passenger needs.
Affordable Fares
The fare for a full journey between Thaltej Village and Vastral Village is set at ₹25. Shorter trips, such as between Thaltej Char Road and Thaltej Village, cost just ₹5. This adjustment reflects a slight increase from the earlier fare of ₹20 for the Thaltej-Vastral route, balancing affordability and operational costs.
