Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Riverfront to Welcome Yoga-Meditation Centre, Global Food Plaza

Ahmedabad's Sabarmati Riverfront is all set to welcome two exciting new attractions that promise to enhance the city's lifestyle offerings and appeal to both locals and tourists. The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd (SRFDCL) has announced plans for a yoga and meditation centre and an international-level food plaza, bringing new spaces for relaxation, wellness, and global cuisine to the city.

Ahmedabad s New Yoga Centre Food Plaza

The yoga and meditation centre will be located within the lush surroundings of the Biodiversity Park on the western side of the Sabarmati Riverfront. Covering an area of 3,500-4,000 square meters, this peaceful retreat will create a tranquil environment ideal for yoga and meditation. With an estimated cost of around Rs 25 crore, the centre will accommodate up to 200 people at a time, offering a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle. Designed without a café, this centre aims to maintain an atmosphere of calm and focus. Visitors will find convenient parking facilities nearby and peaceful views complemented by fountains that enhance the centre's natural beauty. Expected to be completed by 2026-27 as part of the riverfront's second development phase, the centre will soon serve as a dedicated space for individuals seeking inner peace and wellness.

Complementing the wellness theme, the Sabarmati Riverfront will also become a culinary destination with the addition of a new international food plaza. Set to cover 8,300 square meters near B J Park, between Ellis Bridge and Nehru Bridge, this food plaza will offer a range of gourmet cuisines to delight every palate. With design plans already finalized, SRFDCL aims to launch the project soon by issuing tenders. The food plaza consultant has been selected and will receive a fee equivalent to 2.25% of the project cost, signaling the high standards and expertise behind this culinary addition.

The design selection process for the yoga and meditation centre was a careful one, involving the expertise of consultants and architects who submitted a total of eighteen proposals. Out of these, four were shortlisted for final consideration. SRFDCL has requested these finalists to incorporate innovative designs, such as fountains, to enhance the centre's aesthetics and ambiance. This attention to detail reflects the corporation's commitment to creating spaces that not only serve practical purposes but also enrich the cultural and wellness environment along the Sabarmati Riverfront.

These upcoming additions signify SRFDCL's vision of transforming the western section of the riverfront into a hub of well-being and culture. The yoga and meditation centre, designed for peaceful relaxation, and the vibrant international food plaza together promise to add a new dimension to Ahmedabad's cultural landscape.

The SRFDCL's plans for the Sabarmati Riverfront reflect a thoughtful approach to enhancing the quality of life in Ahmedabad. With the yoga and meditation centre set to offer a retreat for those in search of tranquility, and the food plaza prepared to offer a feast for the senses, these developments will provide unique experiences to residents and tourists alike. By 2026-27, Ahmedabad will see the Sabarmati Riverfront transformed into a lively, diverse destination, making it a more vibrant place to live and visit.
