Ahmedabad is currently facing one of the hottest spells of the season. Over the past three days, the temperature has been rising steadily, and on Sunday, it reached a high of 43 degrees Celsius. This is the highest temperature recorded in the city so far this season. The intense heat is a result of a heatwave that has taken hold of the region, and weather officials warn that the situation may get worse in the coming days.

Temperature may rise up to 45 degrees
According to the Meteorological Department, the heatwave is likely to continue for some time. In fact, temperatures may rise by another 2 degrees, possibly touching 45 degrees soon. Earlier in April, a Western Disturbance had helped keep the temperature under control, keeping it below 40 degrees. However, since April 3, the heatwave has become stronger, causing a constant increase in the temperature in Ahmedabad.
In the last three days alone, the city has seen a 3-degree jump in the maximum temperature. On Sunday, not only was the day hot, but even the minimum temperature rose, reaching 24.5 degrees Celsius.
Heatwave affecting cities across Gujarat
The heatwave is not limited to Ahmedabad. Many other cities in Gujarat are also experiencing high temperatures. In fact, 11 cities have reported temperatures above 41 degrees. Kandla Airport recorded the highest temperature in the state at a scorching 45.6 degrees.
Surendranagar was also very hot, with a temperature of 44.2 degrees. Rajkot recorded 43.9 degrees, followed by Deesa at 43.3 degrees. Bhuj experienced the same temperature as Ahmedabad at 43 degrees. Other cities like Amreli, Gandhinagar, Keshod, Vadodara, Vidyanagar, and Surat also faced high temperatures, though slightly lower than the others. These numbers show how widespread the heatwave is across the state.
People advised to stay safe during the heat
This sudden rise in temperature has made life difficult for many people in Gujarat. Authorities are advising people to take extra care during this time. It is important to stay hydrated, avoid going out in the sun during peak afternoon hours, and seek shade whenever possible.
As the heatwave is expected to continue, more alerts and health warnings may be issued in the coming days. It is important for everyone to stay informed and take the necessary steps to stay safe during this extreme weather.
