Ahmedabad motorists should prepare for traffic disruptions as a major repair work begins at the Income Tax Underbridge. Due to damage to the RCC wall beneath the stormwater drainage net, one side of the underbridge will be closed for 10 days, starting Sunday, February 2.
This closure will have a significant impact on daily commuters, as the underbridge is a key route for 2 lakh motorists every day. Travelers are advised to plan ahead and consider alternative routes to avoid heavy congestion.
Traffic Diversions and Expected Delays
Motorists traveling from Usmanpura Underbridge to CG Road will need to take a detour of approximately 1.5 to 2 kilometers. The Usmanpura Underbridge to Stadium Panch Road stretch is already narrow, which could lead to increased traffic jams.
An alternative route is available via Navrangpura Crossing, but traffic here is often slow due to vehicles coming from Mithakhali, Swastik Char Rasta, and Times Char Rasta. Even under normal conditions, bottlenecks are common in this area, so commuters should expect delays.
Another possible bypass is the narrow railway underpass near Navjivan Press, but it may also experience traffic congestion due to its restricted width. As more vehicles divert through this underpass, long waiting times are expected.

With the Income Tax Underbridge repair work set to last for 10 days, motorists are advised to:
