A new flyover in the heart of Ahmedabad's western zone is ready to bring big changes to the city's traffic and transport system. The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has reached an important milestone with the construction of a 2+2 lane split flyover bridge at the Pallav-Pragatinagar junction on the busy 132 feet Ring Road. This bridge is expected to make travel easier and faster for thousands of daily commuters.
Bridge Construction Details
This modern bridge has been built by Ajay Engineering Infra Pvt. Ltd. It extends 935.60 meters towards Ghatlodia and 931.00 meters towards Ankur. The project cost ₹116.94 crore and was planned and managed by HCP Design Planning & Management Pvt. Ltd. The superstructure of the flyover is now complete, and the final work under the bridge and finishing touches are in progress.
AMC took this project seriously as part of its mission to improve the city's roads and reduce traffic jams. This flyover will not only reduce congestion at Pallav-Pragatinagar junction but also improve the overall traffic flow between key parts of the city.
Bridge Load Testing for Safety
Before opening the bridge to the public, AMC is making sure it is fully safe. On April 15, 2025, a load test started on a 35-meter-long section of the bridge, known as span P-24/25 at Pallav Junction. A heavy load of 300 metric tons is being used to test the strength of the bridge. This test follows all the rules and safety codes mentioned in IRC code SP-51.
The test will last for 24 hours and is being done under the supervision of a PMC agency. Experts are checking if the bridge bends or deflects beyond the allowed limit under pressure. The load test will end on April 18, 2025. This detailed checking ensures that the bridge is strong, safe, and ready for public use.
