Indian Railways has arranged special train services to help passengers travelling during the busy Holi festival period. As many people are expected to travel long distances, including between Ahmedabad and Mangaluru, extra trains have been scheduled to reduce overcrowding on regular services and make travel easier.

Weekly Holi Special Train between Ahmedabad and Mangaluru
One of the key additions is a weekly special train between Ahmedabad in Gujarat and Mangaluru Junction in Karnataka. With numbers 09424 and 09423, this train will run on specific Fridays and Saturdays in the weeks around Holi on 27 February, 6 March, 13 March, and 20 March from Ahmedabad, and 28 February, 7 March, 14 March, and 21 March from Mangaluru Junction.
Starting & Ending Points
The special service departs from Ahmedabad in the afternoon, arrives at Mangaluru the next evening, making scheduled stops at many cities and towns along the way, including Vadodara, Surat, Vasai Road, Panvel, Madgaon, Karwar, Udupi, and Surathkal stations before reaching Mangaluru. On the return journey, it departs Mangaluru late at night and arrives in Ahmedabad in the early hours two days later.
This train consists of 22 coaches, including air-conditioned and sleeper classes, which gives travellers more choices and space. The special train operates on a special fare basis, which may be a bit higher than regular tickets due to festival demand.
Why are these Holi Special Trains Introduced?
These extra Holi special trains have been introduced because many people book long-distance journeys during festival seasons, and regular trains often fill up quickly. By running this additional weekly service between Ahmedabad and Mangaluru, the railways aim to ease crowding and help passengers reach their destinations comfortably during the busy travel period.
