Ahmedabad-Keshod Direct Flight Launched, Offering Seamless Travel to Somnath Temple

A major step has been taken to make the journey to Gujarat's sacred Somnath Temple easier for pilgrims. A new direct flight now links Ahmedabad with Keshod, simplifying access to this important pilgrimage site. This initiative, launched by the Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board, aims to make visiting the revered Somnath Temple more convenient for travelers from across India.

Ahmedabad-Keshod Direct Flight Launched

Since the temple is about 55 km from Keshod Airport, the Shree Somnath Trust has organized a free bus service to take pilgrims directly from the airport to the temple grounds in Prabhas Patan, Gir Somnath district. This thoughtful service ensures that pilgrims experience a comfortable, worry-free journey, right from their arrival at Keshod.

The new flight service operates three days a week-Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Flights from Ahmedabad depart at 10:10 AM, reaching Keshod by 10:55 AM. For the return journey, flights leave Keshod at 1:15 PM, bringing passengers back to Ahmedabad by 2:30 PM. This schedule is designed to make travel plans smooth and well-timed, so pilgrims can make the most of their visit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who chairs the Shree Somnath Trust, has played a key role in supporting this project. His involvement highlights the government's commitment to improving facilities for those visiting Somnath, showing dedication to making the pilgrimage experience more accessible and pleasant for all.

Before this direct flight, pilgrims from Ahmedabad, about 400 km away from the temple, faced a long journey by road or train. Now, with the addition of these direct flights and the free bus service, the journey has become faster and simpler. Pilgrims can now reach Somnath more quickly, enriching their overall experience.

By providing better travel options to the Somnath Temple through direct flights and a complimentary shuttle service, the government and the temple trust have demonstrated a genuine commitment to enhancing the pilgrimage experience. These efforts help meet the spiritual needs of pilgrims while making the journey more comfortable and accessible, fostering devotion and respect for one of India's most cherished holy sites.
