From early February 2026, four trains will start ending their journeys at Adityapur Railway Station instead of Tatanagar Railway Station in Jharkhand. This change has been announced by the South Eastern Railway's Chakradharpur division and is planned to begin on February 5.

Reduce Crowds
The main reason for this decision is to reduce crowding and train traffic at Tatanagar station, which is currently undergoing development to become a modern, upgraded station. By shifting a few trains to Adityapur, officials hope to make operations smoother at both stations.
Two Affected Trains
Among the trains affected are two express trains and two MEMU (local) services. From February 5, the Hatia-Adityapur-Hatia MEMU and the Dhanbad-Adityapur Subernarekha Express will end at Adityapur rather than Tatanagar. From February 6, the Adityapur-Asansol express will also start and end at Adityapur. Later in March, from March 29 to March 30, the Visakhapatnam-Tatanagar weekly express will begin its journey and terminate at Adityapur station.
Development of Terminal Station
This move is part of a longer-term plan to develop Adityapur as another terminal station to help handle more trains and passengers in the region. Last year, trial runs were already done from Adityapur to prepare for this shift.
For passengers, this means they will need to go to Adityapur station instead of Tatanagar to catch these trains. People who normally board at Tatanagar might have to change their travel plans accordingly. Railway officials are likely to share updated train times and schedule changes soon, so travelers can plan without confusion.
