Gurugram to Build 5 New Underpasses Between These Metro Routes; Check Details

The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has shared a new plan to build five underpasses along the route of the Old Gurugram Metro. These underpasses will be built between Millennium City Centre and Cyber City and are expected to reduce traffic in Old Gurugram. This project will cost around Rs 550 crore and is waiting for approval from Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini at the next board meeting of the GMDA.

5 New Underpasses Planned in Gurugram

Plan to Start Work After Approval

Once the project gets the final approval, GMDA will begin the feasibility study and prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for each of the five locations. The underpasses will be built during the second phase of the metro expansion. Gurugram Metro Rail Limited (GMRL) will handle the construction work. To save time and money, the underpasses will be built at the same time as the metro line.

This new plan is not the only project to reduce traffic in the city. Earlier, the Bakhtawar Chowk underpass and the Umang Bhardwaj Chowk flyover were also approved to make travel easier for people. Together, these projects show that the government is serious about solving Gurugram's traffic problems.

Where the New Underpasses Will Be Built

The GMDA has carefully chosen the five locations where the underpasses will be built so that they make the most impact in reducing traffic.

1. The first underpass will be built on Railway Road and will help connect sectors 3A, 4, and 5.

2. The second one will join the main road of Sectors 3 and 5 to Sheetla Mata Mandir through Bhagat Singh Chowk.

3. The third will be a one-way underpass at Krishna Chowk, allowing vehicles to travel from Bajghera Road to Sector 5.

4. The fourth underpass will be made at Rejangla Chowk.

5. The fifth will connect Sushil Aima Road and Old Delhi-Gurgaon Road towards Udyog Vihar.

These underpasses are planned in such a way that they will help drivers avoid busy junctions, reduce long waits at traffic signals, and make day-to-day travel smoother for residents.

How the Five New Underpasses Will Help Travelers in Gurugram

The plan to build five new underpasses along the Old Gurugram Metro route will bring many benefits for people who travel in and around the city, whether by car, auto, or metro.

1. Less Time in Traffic

One of the biggest problems in Gurugram is traffic jams, especially in Old Gurugram. These underpasses will help vehicles move without stopping at signals. This means people will spend less time stuck in traffic, and reach their destinations faster.

2. Smoother Travel Experience

With underpasses at busy junctions like Railway Road, Krishna Chowk, and Rejangla Chowk, traffic will flow better. This will make daily travel easier for office-goers, students, and even tourists visiting places like Cyber City or Sheetla Mata Mandir.

3. Better Connection Between Metro and Roads

The underpasses will be built along with the metro line. This is good news for metro travelers because it will be easier to reach metro stations by road without delays.

4. More Comfort and Less Stress

No one likes to wait at red lights for long or be late for work. These projects will reduce those problems, making travel less stressful and more comfortable.

5. Help During Festivals and Busy Days

During events, festivals, or heavy rains, traffic in Gurugram gets worse. These underpasses will help keep traffic moving, even on such busy days.

Part of a Bigger Plan

This underpass project is one part of a bigger plan to improve transport and traffic in Old Gurugram. The GMDA wants to make travel more comfortable for people living and working in the city. With the metro line and new underpasses being built together, people will benefit from better and faster transport systems.

The earlier approved Bakhtawar Chowk underpass and Umang Bhardwaj Chowk flyover have already brought relief in some areas, and these five new underpasses will help even more.
