Ahmedabad city police have announced temporary road closures and traffic diversions for three important flyovers. These changes are necessary for the construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR), India's first bullet train project. The work involves assembling track sections on the flyover pillars, which is a major step in completing the project.

Bridges Affected and Closure Dates
Three flyovers-Asarwa, Cadila, and Nathalal Jhagadia-will have either partial or full closures starting from February 18 and continuing until April 4.
- Asarwa Bridge (Amarsinh Chaudhary Bridge) will be completely closed to traffic from February 22 to March 23.
- Nathalal Jhagadia Bridge will remain closed from February 18 to February 28.
- Cadila Bridge will have disruptions from March 8 to April 4, affecting both regular traffic and the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS).
Alternate Routes for Commuters
Since these bridges connect important areas, Ahmedabad police have suggested alternate routes to reduce inconvenience for commuters.
- For Asarwa Bridge Closure:
- Vehicles coming from Delhi Darwaza, Dariyapur Darwaza, and Prem Darwaza should take Idgah Circle and Bridge, then head towards Girdharnagar Circle and turn right at Asarwa Crossing.
- Those traveling from Saraspur, Gomtinagar, and Bapunagar can use the side road under Asarwa Bridge to reach their destination.
- For Nathalal Jhagadia Bridge Closure:
- Motorists from Khokhara and Hatkeshwar should turn left at Madrasi Mandir AMTS Bus Stop, then move towards Railway Colony Crossroads, passing through Maninagar Railway Crossing to Kankaria.
- Vehicles from LG Hospital and Kankaria can take the Jayhind Crossroads route, then turn left towards Maninagar Railway Crossing and continue towards Anupam Cinema, Jashodanagar, and Khokhara.
- For Cadila Bridge Closure:
- Traffic will be affected from March 8 to April 4.
- The BRTS route on the bridge will remain open but with limited access.
- Only one side of the road will be open for general traffic, allowing limited movement.
Importance of These Closures
The temporary closures will help speed up the construction of the bullet train project. This rail corridor will improve travel between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, making inter-city transport faster and more convenient. Ahmedabad police have carefully planned these diversions to minimize traffic problems and ensure smooth travel for residents.
While these closures may cause some inconvenience, they are necessary for the progress of this important project. Police have requested all commuters to follow the suggested routes and cooperate during this period.
The bullet train project is a big step forward in India's transport system. With public support, the construction can be completed smoothly, bringing a faster and more modern travel experience for everyone.
