Indofast Energy and MMRC Unveil 23 Battery-Swapping Stations on Mumbai Aqua Line 3 for Quick EV Charging

Indofast Energy, a company that provides battery-swapping solutions, has partnered with the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) to build a network of 23 battery-swapping stations along the Mumbai Metro Aqua Line 3 corridor. This project aims to make it easier for people who use electric vehicles (EVs) to charge their

batteries quickly while travelling in the city.

Mumbai Metro Aqua Line Route

The stations will be placed at eight important metro stops on the Aqua Line 3 route, including Aarey JVLR, SEEPZ, MIDC, Santacruz Metro, Bandra Kurla Complex, Dharavi, Worli, and Acharya Atre Chowk. These locations were chosen because they are busy and serve many commuters who could benefit from convenient battery swapping.

Automated Technology

Each swapping station will utilise advanced automated technology, so riders of different kinds of electric vehicles, such as two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and small commercial vehicles, can quickly change their batteries without waiting for slow charging. This will help delivery drivers, ride-share operators, and regular metro passengers who need a fast way to power up for the rest of their journey.

How Will this Partnership Benefit Commuters?

Indofast Energy's CEO, Anant Badjatya, says this partnership is a big step forward in planning urban transport by linking metro travel with easy access to electric mobility. He highlighted that having battery-swapping points right next to the metro line could make electric vehicles a more practical and attractive choice for many people in Mumbai.

MMRCL planners also noted that putting these stations at key metro stops will help encourage more commuters to choose EVs for short trips after they leave the metro, which can reduce traffic and pollution.

This battery-swapping network will build on Indofast Energy's existing infrastructure. Moreover, the company already runs many stations in Mumbai and across India, and this new project will expand that footprint while supporting Mumbai's push for cleaner, more integrated urban transport.
