Central Railway will run 18 special trains from August 15 to 20 to meet the increased passenger demand during Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan, covering major routes.

The Central Railway is set to operate 18 special trains to meet the increased passenger demand during the upcoming long weekend, which includes Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan. These trains will run from August 15 to 20, connecting key destinations across the region.

Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway Swapnil Nila emphasised that these special trains are being introduced to provide more travel options for passengers during the festive period. "Given the increased demand, CR decided to run these special trains to ensure convenient travel for everyone," Nila said.

Special Train Routes

The special trains will cover several routes, ensuring connectivity across major cities. The routes include:

  • LTT Mumbai-Nagpur: 2 services
  • LTT Mumbai-Madgaon: 4 services
  • CSMT Mumbai-Kolhapur: 2 services
  • Pune-Nagpur: 4 services
  • Kalaburagi-Bengaluru: 6 services

Reservations for these special trains are now open at all computerised reservation centres and on the IRCTC website. Passengers are advised to book their tickets early to secure their travel plans during this festive period.
