Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is located at Nellore in Andhra Pradesh. It is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu as Lord Ranganatha. The temple is also known as Talpagiri Ranganathaswami temple and Ranganayakulu. It is believed to have been constructed sometime in the 12th century A.D. It is located on the banks of the famous Penna river.

A lot of legends surround the place. According to folklore, Sage Kashyapa had performed the Poundarika Yagga at this very site. The Lord blessed the Sage after being appeased by his offerings.

The temple architecture is reminiscent of the styles of the Pallava style of temple architecture. The Gaaligopuram is an important feature that immediately catches the eye of the tourist. Gaaligopuram literally translates to “wind tower”.

It is 70 ft in height and is noted for the 10 gold-plated vessels that are placed on top of it, known as Kalisams. Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple is one of the most important landmarks of Nellore. It is easily approachable once you have reached Nellore.
