Milam Glacier, Kumaon

Milam Glacier is located in the Himalayan Range in its south facing slope. The elevation of the glacier ranges from 5,500 m to 3,870 m. Largest of all the glaciers of the Kumaon region, this glacier covers an area of 37 sq km. Moreover, Milam Glacier is also the source of the river Goriganga, which is the tributary of the river Kali.

The trek to the glacier passes through waterfalls, villages, forests and wooden bridges. Travellers can make Munsiyari, which is the tehsil of the district Pithoragarh, as their base camp, from where they can make arrangements for food.
