Nanakmatta, Kumaon

Nanakmatta is a historical town, which is located on the banks of the Deoha stream. This place is a prominent pilgrimage of Sikhs, owing to the presence of a Gurudwara, named Gurdwara Nanak Mata Sahib. According to a legend, the first Guru of Sikhs, Guru Nanak Dev paid a visit to this place while he was on his way to Kailash Parvat in 1515 AD.

The gurudwara is built over the river Saryu, and the Nanak Sagar Dam is situated nearby. Tourists can picnic here and enjoy different activities like fishing and boating. They can also avail lodging facilities in the tourist rest house and the Gurudwara.
