Kashmir, being a hill station, is a popular tourist spot among the people of the rest of the country which suffers very hot summers. The climate remains cool during summers here. Winters, however, are marked with heavy and moderate snowfall.
(May to August): Kashmir maintains a pleasant climate throughout the summer season. Temperatures do not rise above 25˚ C in the summer season which makes it relatively cooler than the rest of the country. This season makes it convenient for tourists to explore the region.
(July to September): The monsoon season in Kashmir starts in the month of July and extends till September. This part of the state receives a moderate amount of rainfall. Visitors are suggested to be prepared with rain gear when travelling to Kashmir during this time.
(December to March): Kashmir experiences chilly winters. Annual heavy snowfall in the region adds to its scenic beauty. Winter sports like skiing, trekking and others can be taken up here during this season.
