Kolab, Jeypore

Kolab is one of the most popular attractions of Jeypore for its reservoir. It is situated 3000 ft above the sea level over the free flowing Kolab river. It is merely 5 km away from Jeypore. The reservoir generates hydroelectric power. The Orissa Hydro Electric Corporation Limited is located here that supplies drinking water to Koraput, Sunabeda, Damonjodi, along with Jeypore town.

The Botanical Garden which is situated in the vicinity of the Kolab Reservoir sees many families coming for picnics in the weekends. The garden is home to around 200 varieties of flowering plants that makes this place truly enchanting. People can also enjoy boating apart from picnic.

There is a small island named ‘Kechela’ which is surrounded by water. Only way to reach there is through boating which takes around half an hour. The night view of the reservoir is also worth experiencing. People throng in to this place to marvel at the beauty of the reservoir and the well maintained Botanical Garden.
