Pisanhari Ki Madiya, Jabalpur

Pisanhari ki Madiya is a well-known pilgrimage for the Digambar Jain sect. This Jain temple is situated close to the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College. This 500-year-old temple is one of the most visited places in Jabalpur and is known for its architecture and beauty.

There is a legend that says that this temple was built by a poor woman after she heard the voice of a holy Jain monk. The monk's magical words gave her the inspiration to go ahead and built this massive structure.

There are stones in the temple that were laid down by this lady and these stones are still unmoved and kept at the same place to showcase her unmatched devotion and determination.

In order to pay her a befitting tribute, this temple was named Pisanhari ki Madiya that can be translated to the woman preparing wheat flour on hand-operated stone mill. With beautiful surroundings at its vicinity, this Jain temple in Jabalpur is visited by hundreds every year.
