Goa, one of the most celebrated tourist destinations in the world is very popular for its flea markets. Held on various places in Goa, these flea markets are the best places to buy the authentic Goan handicrafts and variety of other artifacts and that too at a very economical price.

Anjuna Flee Market

Originally known to be a hippies arena, the Anjuna Flea market today is famous shopping place in Goa. Held on every Wednesday, this market came to existence in the 1980's and has been a favored shopping arena since then. Tourists can buy junk jewelery, electronic goods, handicrafts, paintings, mirror-worked waistcoats and trendy wrap arounds.

This flea market is flooded by hawkers from all over the country selling a variety of articles. Open from 10:30 in the morning till 6:30 in the evening, the flea market is held at Dando Vaddo, south of Anjuna beach. The Anjuna Flea Market is held during the months of September to March, as this is the time when tourists from all around the globe visit Goa.

Saturday Night Bazaar at Anjuna

Held on the same location where Wednesday Anjuna Flea Market is held, the Saturday Bazaar is much more lively as local bands are seen performing for the crowd. The history of this market too can be traced back to the days of the hippies. This flea market is flooded by hawkers selling almost every item. Open from 7 pm till 1am, this market is held only during the winter months from November to March.

The Friday Bazaar at Mapusa

This is one of the most popular flea markets held in Goa. The market is flooded with local vendors and hippies selling any thing and everything from a varieties of ground spices to sea fish and from bamboo products to leather, and clothing.

Mapusa Friday Market, Goa

Friday Bazaar is held in the Mapusa Municipal Market every Friday and is open from 8 in the morning till 7 in the evening. Some of the items that one should not miss buying here includes cashew, feni, Goa sausages and salt fish. Tourists are advised to bargain heavily in this market and also should enjoy the fresh hot cross buns sold here.

Ingo's Saturday Night Market

This market is a popular hang out place in Goa. Held on the grounds of Arpora, close to Baga Beach, tourists here can buy a huge variety of products like hand-made leather sandals, beautiful jewellery and many other artifacts. A popular among the locals here is the Taro card readers and fortune tellers. Interested travellers can also get themselves tattooed from experts at the tattoo parlours.

Tourists can also enjoy sumptuous Goan, Chinese and Thai cuisine in this market. Jugglers, local musicians, belly dancers are some of the attractions that keep the shoppers entertained. The market is open from 7 in the evening till 1 in the morning and is held only from the months of November to March.
