Atttiveri Bird Sanctuary
Located in the serene Uttara Kannada, Attiveri Bird Sanctuary is a paradise for nature lovers and birdwatchers. The sanctuary lies at 15 km from the Mundgod village. The nearest major cities are the twin towns of Hubli-Dharwad at distance of approximately 48-50 km.
The Atttiveri Bird Sanctuary is a hotspot of a rich biodiversity and home to innumerable species of birds including, but not limited to Rose-ringed Parakeet, Brown Shrike, Barn Swallow, Southern Grey Shrike, Bay-backed Shrike. So, don't forget to carry a pair of binoculars to this heavenly bird sanctuary!

During the winter months, one can witness the great migration that happens in the sanctuary where several, rare birds species come visiting. These birds include Little Egret, Black-headed Ibis, Eurasian Spoonbill, Green Bee-eater, Darter, etc. Apart from these exotic birds, the sanctuary is also a home to other animals such as Indian Porcupine, Jackal, Wild Boar, Jungle Cat, Grey Mongoose, Indian Pangoline, etc.

Best Time To Visit The Attiveri Bird Sanctuary

The best time to visit the Attiveri Bird Sanctuary is between November to March, when the weather is pleasant and you can witness the grand migration with numerous species of birds arriving from more than 20 countries here.
The sanctuary is open for visitors between 6 AM and 6 PM.
How to reach Attiveri Bird Sanctuary?

By Air: The nearest airport to Attiveri Bird Sanctuary is located at Hubli-Dharwad at a distance of about 50 km. You can hire a taxi or board a bus from the airport to reach the sanctuary.
By Train: The closest Railway Station is Hubli Junction which is 48 km away. There are frequent trains to this station from major places in Karnataka and Maharashtra. From here you can take taxi or bus to reach the Attiveri Bird Sanctuary.
By Road: There are many state transport buses available from major places of Maharashtra and Karnataka to reach Hubli-Dharwad. You can also hire a taxi or self-drive to reach the sanctuary.
