Tatanagar to Varanasi Vande Bharat Train By July 2025: Station Gets Major Upgrades

Jharkhand is all set to improve its rail network with the upcoming launch of the Vande Bharat Express between Tatanagar and Varanasi. This high-speed train service is expected to start running by July 2025. Covering a distance of about 600 kilometres, this new route will reduce travel time and offer a faster, more comfortable journey for passengers. According to a report from Live Hindustan, preparations for this service have already started, showing a big step toward better train connectivity in the region.

Upgrades and Preparations Underway

To get ready for the new Vande Bharat train, Tatanagar Railway Station is getting many updates. One important change is the high-tension power supply installed at Washing Line No. 3. This power setup is needed to clean and maintain the Vande Bharat train coaches. Also, new Galvanized Iron Pipes are being added to support the maintenance work.

Even though the Railway Board has not officially announced this new route yet, reports suggest that a sleeper version of the Vande Bharat train may start between Tatanagar and Varanasi by September 2024. In fact, high-tension cables were installed on Washing Line No. 1 back in August 2024 to prepare for this plan.

Improving Rail Connections in the Region

Tatanagar already has good train links. It has Vande Bharat trains running to Patna in Bihar and Berhampur in Odisha. Another service connects Ranchi to Howrah, which started in September 2023. A new Rourkela to Howrah service is also expected to start in September 2024. These trains run six days a week and have been very helpful for passengers, especially those traveling to Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.

The new route from Tatanagar to Varanasi will fill a gap, as there is currently no daily train between these two important cities.

New Maintenance Facility Planned

To support the growing number of Vande Bharat trains, a new maintenance track is also being planned in the Loco Colony area of Tatanagar. A survey for this was completed in June 2024, and the Chakradharpur Division has already sent a proposal to the South Eastern Railway Zone. Once approved, construction will begin soon.

An earlier plan to build a maintenance center in Kudada was dropped because the location was too far from the station. Now, the focus is on building a maintenance space at Tatanagar that can handle two Vande Bharat trains at the same time.

This development will not only improve rail operations but also ensure better care of trains, leading to smoother and faster journeys for everyone.
