Mumbai remained under an orange alert for the third consecutive day on Thursday as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of the city. The weather department also warned of strong winds with speeds of 60 to 70 kmph during the day. Residents have been advised to stay cautious as heavy rain may lead to waterlogging, traffic problems and disruptions in daily activities.
Mumbai Rain Alert Today
Neighbouring Palghar remained under a red alert, indicating the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall. Thane also remained under an orange alert due to the prediction of heavy showers. For Friday, the IMD has issued a yellow alert for Mumbai, Thane and Palghar, forecasting heavy rainfall at isolated places. Madhya Maharashtra, including Pune, Aurangabad, Nashik and Kolhapur, is likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places. The IMD has issued alerts for Mumbai and nearby areas, warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and possible waterlogging on Friday.
Mumbai Weather Alert Today
In the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, including Mumbai and Thane, the weather is expected to remain cloudy with light rain in the morning followed by possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. Day temperatures may remain around 30 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are likely to stay near 27 degrees Celsius with high humidity.
Several districts in Maharashtra, including Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Ahilyanagar, Dhule, Jalgaon, Kolhapur, Nandurbar, Nashik, Pune and Satara, are expected to experience heavy rainfall.
Heavy Rainfall Expected by 27 July
The monsoon is expected to become stronger across northwestern, central and parts of north peninsular India, along with eastern and northeastern states, until Monday, July 27. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of extremely heavy rainfall and possible flooding in some parts of western India.

Residents have also been asked to stay updated with official weather alerts and follow instructions from local authorities as more rainfall is expected in parts of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
