Good news for travellers! Eight tourist places in Kashmir that were closed for a security check after the Pahalgam attack on April 22 have now reopened. Jammu and Kashmir's Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced that the decision was made after getting reports from all districts. Officials from both Kashmir and Jammu divisions reviewed the situation and decided to open some locations to the public again.

Tourist Spots Open in Kashmir and Srinagar
In South Kashmir, popular places like Betab Valley, Verinag garden, Kokernag garden, Achabal garden, and parks in Pahalgam market are now open to visitors. In Srinagar, Badamwari Park, Duck Park (Nageen), and Taqdeer Park (Hazratbal) have also reopened. These parks are known for their peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty, and their reopening brings joy to both tourists and locals.
Jammu Locations Also Welcome Tourists Again
The reopening is not just limited to Kashmir. In Jammu, eight more spots have also been made accessible. These include Sarthal and Dhaggar in Kathua district, Devipindi, Siyad Baba and Sula Park in Reasi, Guldanda and Jai valley in Doda, and Pancheri in Udhampur. LG Manoj Sinha also shared that more tourist sites may reopen soon after safety reviews in other districts are completed.
Positive Response from Tourists and Locals
There is a new wave of excitement among people. The launch of the Vande Bharat Express has also helped boost travel, with all tickets booked for the next 10 to 12 days. LG Sinha said the number of tourists is slowly going up. This is seen as a hopeful sign for the region's tourism industry.
Tourism Stakeholders Share Their Views
Zahoor Ahmed Qari, from the Kashmir chapter of the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), said this move sends a strong and positive message. "It will give tourists confidence to visit Kashmir again," he said. He also asked officials to think about reopening more places like Gurez, Yousmarg, Tosamaidan, Doodpathri, Aharbal, and Bangus soon.
Shameem Shah, representing the Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), said their goal is to show the world that Kashmir is safe. "We want people to know that Kashmir is as safe as any other place in the world," he said.
The reopening of these places is an important step in rebuilding tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. With proper safety checks and positive efforts by the government, both locals and travellers are looking forward to better days in the beautiful valley.
