man named Koya Subba Rao from Kruthivennu village died after a tree fell on him, while a woman, K. Rajya Lakshmi from Mangalapuram village, was injured in a similar incident and admitted to a government hospital for treatment.

Officials reported that 357 trees and 284 electric poles were uprooted in Machilipatnam alone. Across the Krishna district, nearly 506 trees and 446 electric poles were damaged, along with 30 transformers. So far, 12 poles and one transformer have been restored, and the electricity department is working continuously to restore the remaining ones. Out of 506 fallen trees, 398 have been removed so far.

Cyclone Montha Impacts

Cyclone Montha also destroyed large parts of the district's greenery, uprooting several decades-old trees. One such tree fell inside the Krishna district Zilla Parishad office. Many trees also fell along the Gudivada-Vijayawada and Avanigadda-Vijayawada Karakatta roads, causing traffic problems for commuters.

Ongoing Additional Work

Energy Minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, along with Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra and APSRTC Chairman Konakalla Narayana Rao, visited Machilipatnam to inspect the damage. The energy minister stated that officials are working day and night to restore power to approximately 25,000 affected homes. Repairs have been completed at 22 of the 52 damaged power substations in the Machilipatnam, Gudivada, and Vuyyur areas. Work is ongoing at 19 additional substations, and repairs have commenced on 471 feeder lines, with the remaining 23 to be addressed soon.
