Nirmaljhar, Ganjam

Nirmaljhar is located at a distance of 37 km from Ganjam. The place is famous for its temple complex which comprises of temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu, Lord Jagganath, Goddess Vimala, Radha Krishna, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha and Sun God.

The perennial stream that descends from the Badaghati Mountain collects itself at some places to form a pool of crystal clear water, thereby rendering the name of the place as Nirmaljhar which means ‘pure water’.

Goddess Vimala is the presiding deity of Nirmaljhar. One can marvel at the high-quality workmanship done on the walls of the temple of Lord Vishnu whereas the other temples bear the sculptures and carvings which depict the tales from the Mahabharata.

Visitors generally visit this place during summer to take bath in the serene and cold water of the pool. The Khallikote King’s palace along with two other temples named Sankleswar and Jhadeswar are also located nearby.
